Introduction To Open SSH

First things first, for those of you who don't know the acronym it stands for open secure shell. Secure Shell is a protocol that uses encryption for a connection between the client and the server. The client which is typically a PC or some other device sends a message trying to initiate contact with server, the server then sends what is known as a public key, parameters are decided, a secure channel is open and then client can log-in. Much of this is done through ssh clients such as putty and others. So here are the keys to SSH :

SSH uses public key encryption

Provides two levels of authentication

It allows you to log in to a remote system

Currently there is SSH1 and a more advanced SSH2, these two are not compatible
